The Selfless Way of Yahweh

Yahweh, Yahweh, your selfless way is the only way: tonight and today, forever…always.

Holy lamb, our earthy man, we follow your plan: Through you we do, and we can, reach the goal of every man.

For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. (Matt 16:25)

What is the selfless way?

To find the way, one must throw oneself into the ocean and learn to breathe under unnatural pressure. To be selfless, the very breath of our lungs must be Yahweh’s, the strength to stand will need the help of angels, and our prayer will be pushed out in blood. Selflessness is the way of Jesus Christ and the two witnesses who forsook all to stand beside him. The selfless live to pour their oil into the other, refusing to be revealed alone. It is the way of Yahweh, binding Himself to Moses, and Moses, in turn, binding Himself to the people of God with whom he lived and died. The selfless way is the way of Elijah, who ascended beyond this world, only to descend again, so that the sons of the prophets will not be left orphans in their hard and difficult path on the earth. The selfless way is the Adam who would not forsake the bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh, binding himself to this lower world of hard labour, that his Eve, the mother of all living, may once again flourish. The selfless way is the descent of Yahweh to be with his Adam, even in the depths of humanity’s deception, futility and death. The voice that walked the evening cool in the garden chose to tread in blood through our thorns and briers and be scorched and darkened by the midday sun. The selfless way is the risking of Yahweh and Abraham’s Isaac to the Altar, through a hope not yet seen, that the trust between God and his friend will not be broken. The selfless way is the incarnation of God in flesh through Christ Jesus, so that an everlasting union was forged that can never be untangled or broken. Yahweh commits completely, laying himself down, the Father becoming the Son of Man, for the ram in the thicket ultimately became the lamb, born through death in the chest of his Abraham. The selfless way is more than a hope of future resurrection; the selfless way is the resurrection…and the life.

The selfless one is the lamb for every man, Yahweh’s plan.

The selfless way of the seed does not live through self-preservation, but willing assimilation and death under humanity’s dirt. The good seed is the sons of the kingdom.

The selfless dove plunges into the chaotic waters of creation, overpowering the ancient Leviathan, dividing chaos with peace, until the new day dawns, as darkness is swallowed by the light. The selfless plunge into the abyss is a light the darkness could never grasp, and what light sank to the bottom, shall envelop all things in rising. Through this, the riddle of Samson may be fulfilled: “out of the eater, something to eat, out of the bitter, something sweet.” This is the way of Jonah, Yahweh’s dove, who gave himself to the belly of the beast in primordial storms, so that through one man the gift of repentance to life should extend universally. Our earthy man, Jesus, followed the sign of Jonah, giving himself to the belly of the earth, calming the raging seas of mankind. The sea of humanity raged with wrath, not for this man’s running away, but for the obedience and light in which he walked. The boat bore Yahweh, and with anger, we threw Him overboard. This one man became a ransom for many, so that the entire nation should not perish. How can we not see that the descent of God’s dove into the angry seas has secured mercy for all? It is the selflessness of Yahweh that secures mercy, and His sons are those bound to their Father in the selfless giving of their lives. They are the peacemakers. These sons of men are sons of God.

The selfless way of Yahweh is a mystery to be revealed, and what is mystery but the canopy of darkness with which God hides himself? Yet the dark curtain is now torn, and the radiant face of righteousness is revealed. The glory has come, and the true light is already shining; all is ready to be revealed. Jesus Christ has walked the selfless way of Yahweh for all, from the wilderness to the cross, so that today becomes the day of rest, the day of inheritance. The way of the cross is the destruction of evil by suffering at its very hands; the destruction of death by dying, the eradication of sin by becoming sin, all the way to the inevitable end. The selfless way is not powerless, for it is the power to lay down one’s life, so that it may be taken up again in power. It is an angelic life of ascension and descension, for the son of man is in heaven and earth at once. Selflessness makes humans messengers of God. The selfless one gives their body as bread for all, knowing that every fragment returns to the heavenly loaf from which it came. The true bread of heaven is incorruptible, and does not perish, nor shall those who eat of it.

The selfless, by giving themselves, receive new houses, families and new bodies; the little they begin with multiplies and becomes greater through giving. Finally, selfless lambs return to their Father, who is greater than all, and can we not see that the Father is greater than all because he gave and gives life to all? His seed, though one, is all, and all are multiplied and returned to Him through that seed. The Father comes to us all through His Abraham, and we all return through our Isaac. This is why Paul said, “Christ is all, and in all.”  When the sons become the Father’s gift and their hearts are made one, their spirit may be poured out into flesh through the union of the Holy Spirit, and they may appear as tongues of fire, the messengers ascending and descending upon the Son of man, declaring the wonderful works of God. By giving themselves to Yahweh’s baptism of fire, they are not destroyed but become one with the living flame. They are in the flame and the family tree, not consumed, but Holy. This tree is the church, for Yahweh is who He is and shall be who He shall become. I AM THAT I AM. Take off your shoes if you desire to look upon this holiness.

The selfless way is known in those who are willing to do whatever it takes, even if alone, to receive the reward and promise. In the end, their nature is transformed completely, and though they sow in tears with no labour to help, they become unwilling to harvest the reward alone. What is sown by one is always reaped by multitudes. The selfless may die on the mountain, overlooking the promised land, choosing to enter Sheol, to comfort and wait with the generation they have bound themselves to.

The romance initiated by God’s presence eventually forges into a sacrificial love for the people of God, for this is the infusion of Yahweh’s love. When one experiences union with the Father, they come to love all, beginning to recognize Him in and through all. When Yahweh befriends a son of man, his love ignites for all, for in one man he sees all men, relenting from seeing them otherwise. This is the power of a romance with God, and the power of a human with God. Moses, early into the wilderness journey, prayed to Yahweh, “If your presence doesn’t go with us, do not lead us up from this place.” Toward the end of the journey, he struck out, so that the rebellious family he led would not perish in the wilderness without him, once again, this time risking not the courts of Pharoah, but the courts of Yahweh, Moses bore the reproach with the people of God. Moses sought universal salvation and a land of promise even for the rebellious among the people. He chose to wait for that day. Inhaling his last breaths upon the mountain, with Jacob’s struggling spirit, I imagine Moses prayed: “If your people do not go with me, do not lead me from this place.” Moses remains with them to this day, knowing Yahweh will never abandon his friend. Those who live in Yahweh through selflessness shall live also in humanity forever.
